The Illinois Press Photographers Association would like to give a special thanks to Tim Lytvinenko for acting as one of the Illinois Best of Multimedia judges with Josh Meltzer.

Tim Lytvinenko (b. 1982) is a photographer and web developer based in Raleigh, North Carolina and a multimedia contributor for LUCEO Images. Lytvinenko holds a degree in computer science from the Engineering School at North Carolina State University.

After college Tim interned at the Concord Monitor and Midland (MI) Daily News before heading back to Raleigh North Carolina. He is currently exploring bridges between the internet and photography including video, stop-motion, interactive Flash, web design and social media.

iBOM entrants may notice that the categories in the iBOM results are slightly different from the original categories. The judges made some decisions in the process, and we would like to share some of their observations with you.

• We had 59 people submit more than 170 entries among the 10 categories. By far, “PRO INDIVIDUAL VIDEO PROJECT” had the most entries with 95 pieces. There were far fewer “Team” projects than ever before
• The judges asked to combine all team (pro team slide show, pro team video and pro team multimedia project) and student categories (student slideshow, student video, student multimedia project) due to low entry numbers and quality issues in each of the categories.
• Just a reminder, if your multimedia contest entry is market private (several were), judges can’t view it and it was disqualified. We highly suggest you don’t do this.
• Also, if your multimedia contest entry link doesn’t work (several didn’t), your work was disqualified. We highly suggest that you post your video on Youtube, Vimeo, your personal site, or some stable, trustworthy source that you have control over and know videos won’t expire or break.
• We’d highly suggest for future contests to only enter your best work. Just like in still photojournalism, you will be judged by your worst piece and some of the finalists for the multimedia portfolio of the year got cut because of one or two weak entries when they had several strong entries.
