First IPPA convention speaker announced: David Eulitt, Kansas City Star

David Eulitt, a staff photographer at the Kansas City Star, has been at the McClatchy newspaper in his home town since 2002, where he has covered the Kansas City Chiefs since 2004, along with two Summer Olympic Games in Athens and Beijing.

Previous to working in Kansas City, Eulitt was a staff photographer for ten years at the Topeka Capital-Journal newspaper, a paper filled with photojournalism history. At the Capital-Journal, Eulitt won the 1993 Robert F. Kennedy award for his coverage of the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, a self-financed project. Eulitt also won the 1995 NPPA Region 7 Photographer of the Year for his year-long portfolio.

Eulitt’s first job was as a staff photographer at the San Bernardino Sun in southern California after graduating with a journalism degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1989.
