IPPA member Scott Bort from The Northwest Herald won an Award of Excellence for the “Best Student Sports Photograph” in the Sports Shooter Annual Contest.
Help Chilean orphans learn photography
A friend of mine is heading to Chile in August and is looking for some
help.

My name is Christine Mladic, and I am a photographer from Chicago who
will be going to Santiago, Chile in August through an organization
called Voluntarios de la Esperanza.
I will be living at an orphanage, and will be directing a class to
encourage the children to express themselves creatively through
photography.
For this reason, I would like to collect 40 point-and-shoot digital
cameras, either new or used. If possible, any digital cards that are
compatible with donated cameras would be greatly appreciated.
If you or anyone you know has a digital camera available for donation,
please contact me directly - the children, the organization, and I will
greatly appreciate your generous contribution! I thank you in
advance for your help.

COMMENTS-1st Best in Show! We love this story., 2nd What an effort from the photographer, nice seeing great light, 3rd solid photo package GENERAL we were surprised to find this the strongest category. Abe Lincoln was a fantastic piece, with So many unexpected photos, love ice skating, punk rocker, etc…on top of great documentary work- the cover portrait was beautiful of Abe as well.Kudos to Jonathan.Rest of stories were also well done, we applaude Illinois for putting out nice photos and packages!
