Helping kids interested in photography in Chicago
Jacinda Bullie of Kuumba Lynx is working on helping an Chicago Public School located in Uptown, Uplift, put the word out that it’s looking for folks interested in setting up a photo club or afterschool photo program in their school. So I’m getting in touch with PTP‘ers and others who might know someone who could help her help this school and its students with a photo program.
According to Jacinda, Uplift is a school on probation which means lots of funding is being cut until scores improve, but the staff and school is new this year and carrying the burden of the old school’s test scores. The new staff is very interested in utilizing art to enhance academics. Kuumba Lynx is committed to seeking funding to support the school’s effort to bring photography to the school. The program they have in mind would have a photo teacher/coach come in for 25 weeks either afterschool or during the school. Funding would include paying the photo teacher/coach.
If you or someone you know are interested in finding out more, contact Jacinda at -email- or 773-550-4229.
(Thanks Karen Kring for the tip!)
